A walk from Liverpool Street to the Royal Exchange

Revisiting the end of February this year, I have just looked at some pictures taken in London.
Alan had an appointment at the Royal Exchange and we had time to walk there from Liverpool Street Station and take a few shots on the way.
Not far down Old Broad Street you can see the curious building which once housed a Turkish Bath. Built in 1895 it is now rather neglected and chained up.
Passing that we came to the Georgian church of St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate. St Botolph was an East Anglian saint and we had visited another church named after him in Boston Lincs only a couple of weeks before. There are several churches dedicated to him around the city and he seems to have been very popular. This Georgian one was finished in 1728, being built on the site of an earlier church which had survived the Great Fire, only to fall into disrepair. The simplicity of the interior with it's warm wooden balconies was very pleasing.

This set finishes with a picture taken through the columns of the Royal exchange. Then follows a few monochrome pictures from the tunnel leading to the museums in South Kensington. We went there to visit the Media Centre at the Science Museum that afternoon. The very last picture is the lift shaft at the Science Museum. Both this and the tunnel I seem to have a bit of a 'thing' about!!
