Blakes Wood

Image
Around a fortnight ago Mairi and I visited Blakes Wood in Little Baddow, Essex. It was the first time we had been there but I had been told that it is a bluebell wood and wanted to check on their progress. There was one blue spike in a particularly warm and sheltered area but nothing else. I did take some photos, some straightforward and some with ICM and multiple exposure. Mairi found a large piece of a tree that she decided could make a nice low table and insisted on bringing it back to the car (dodging National Trust rangers). I could barely lift it. There had been quite a lot of storm damage in the wood. Some of it has been cleared but in some areas nature is being allowed to get on with it. In one place the trees were creaking alarmingly, where trunks  has fallen against other trees. There were vast numbers of wood anemones out.
